Ecological Society of America 2018 Annual Meeting

Aug 5-10, 2018

Hosted By:

Ecological Society of America

NEON is a community user facility fully funded by the National Science Foundation and proudly operated by Battelle since 2016. As NEON enters full operations, we are excited to see that the observatory will be featured in over two dozen sessions at this year's ESA annual meeting. We are also providing a number of opportunities for attendees to get to know more about this ambitious and first-of-its-kind ecological observatory.

Find us at Booth 314

Please stop by to learn more about how to download our 181 free and open access data products, our 81 field sites, our standardized collection methods, and our free data skills training resources.

Featured Sessions

Presented on Sunday, this workshop will provide an introduction to discovering, accessing, and preparing a variety of NEON data for your research, primarily using R. $25 fee.

Taking place on Monday morning, this workshop will feature scientists, currently using NEON resources, who will answer your questions about working with NEON resources for their projects during a lively town hall style Q & A. Afterwards, scientists from NEON will talk about NEON resources, funding, and PI-led projects as well as other ways to participate in the NEON observatory.

Monday afternoon, learn about ongoing research using NEON data to investigate research on lake ecosystems, biogeochemical cycling in riverine ecosystems, the terrestrial carbon cycle, plant phenology and land-atmosphere coupling, terrestrial plant diversity, and structuring of ecological communities. Talks will be tailored for a broad cross-section of ecologists.
